The settlement at the corner of Longmead and Blenheim roads has grown since I first noticed it at reference 1. Complete with the cackling of the odd free range chicken.
BH puts it all down to the upcoming Derby, a traditional herding time for travellers. I remember that it also used to be a fighting time, fairly free-form fighting of boys, youths and young men, with the fathers betting heavily, up to and including their caravans. In some forms, the form was that the one who first touched the ground with any part of the body above the waist, usually a hand, was the loser. Non-members not welcome.
Meanwhile, spare a thought for all the workers at Sartorius.
