[the 'SHZ House' above is a smudged version of 'SHE House']
Trolley 1,000 was noticed in the then ordinary way at reference 2. Various other postings covered the celebration of same, including a visit to the Wolseley City. The whole basis of trolley spotting and counting was revised at that point, with activity continuing, but on a lower key. With a holiday in December. Notwithstanding which, trolley 1,100 was noticed in a rather offhand way at reference 1.
And I now notice the arrival of trolley 1,200. A Chinese made version of the Wanzl Light 100 belonging to B&M and captured from the little passage next to Viceroy Cars in West Street. A little over three years old. Distributed by Storage and Handling Ltd of Billingham (SHE), people who have turned up a couple of times before, as can be seen at reference 3.
Gemini, Companies House and something called EndoleOpen (reference 5) tell me all about this outfit, and its driving force, one Mr. Beamson. He sits at the centre of a modest next of companies, one of which is SHE itself and one of which owns most of SHE. Gemini tells me that this is entirely normal for a successful businessman who is getting on a bit. He also spins a not terribly convincing yarn about what ties all these companies together.
Moving back to my trolleys, a version of the last pivot table included at reference 1. The production of which did push me into a bit of tidying up of the data.
The default version, in which I have not attempted to persuade Excel to include proper row and column labels.
So the first column is the year of manufacture, where known. Including some subtle Excel distinction between looking blank (top) and being blank (bottom). In the case that the trolley was captured and there is no date, the ticket was either missing or illegible, this last in whole or in part. Even under zoom, which is usually rather good at bringing out faded numbers.
The other columns are about whether or not the trolleys were captured, coded either 'Yes' or 'No'.
So we have dates for around two thirds of the trolleys recorded and around half the trolleys recorded were captured. Well over half the dated trolleys were made in the last couple of years or so.
