I have long been both slightly irritated and slightly puzzled by the absence of the set union symbol from Microsoft's 'Character Map'. Intersection present, union absent. This afternoon I was moved to do something about it - by asking Gemini. I think I am pretty much there as far as Notepad and Word are concerned, this to test whether the fix carries across here.

The business posted flat sales of £440mn in 2025 while its adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation rose 6.3 per cent to £53mn. It reported sales of £112mn in the first quarter of 2026, the most recent period for which data is available, a 3.7 per cent increase from the same period a year earlier. The group is owned by investors who took over the company after the coronavirus pandemic forced a drastic restructuring, including the closure of dozens of outlets. Shareholders injected £20mn into the business in April 2025, as part of a £55mn refinancing that extended some of its debt.

Inspection of the html suggests that something tricky is going on inside Blogger with paste with formatting - the red indicates an error. Perhaps best to stick with paste as plain text.
I leave with the html now showing lots of red. But it seems to look OK posted. Union with formatting still slightly enlarged. Maybe I should just be grateful that I have now got union, and not fuss that it is not quite the same size as intersection.
